What is Robots at the Libraries
R@TL is an international community outreach event started by
FIRST Robotics Competition Team 3617 Cold Logic.
This event is aimed at connecting robotics teams K-12 with their local libraries by hosting robot demos to help kick-off the
summer reading program.
This event is not only an excellent opportunity for the robotics teams to gain recognition in their community, but also for the
libraries to advertise their S.T.E.A.M. programs.
In general, R@TL is held during the first week of May - so that it generally corresponds
with the start of libraries summer reading programs - however teams and libraries are welcome to hold their events throughout the year.

How to Participate
Step 1. Get in contact with your local library! If you have multiple libraries in your area, it's encouraged (but not required) that you
plan multiple events. If you need assistance getting ahold of your library, please contact Team Cold Logic,
we would be more than happy to help out!
If you have other robotics teams in your area, don't be afraid to invite them as well!
Step 2. Work with the library to plan the event! Traditionally, teams will do a robot demonstration at the library and then allow the public to try their hand at
controlling the robot. It may be necessary to slow down your robot or add sensors to ensure everyone's safety. Some teams will also plan
S.T.E.A.M.-related activities (such as quick science fair projects, 3D-printing demos, computer destructs, etc.).
Step 1. Get in contact with your local robotics team(s)! If you need assistance getting ahold of you teams in your area (or if you are not sure if you have teams in your area),
please contact Team Cold Logic, we would be more than happy to help out! Cold Logic is also willing to travel
(within reason) to libraries in area that don't yet have a robotics team.
Step 2. Work with the team(s) to plan the event! Remember that this event is an opportunity for you advertise your
S.T.E.A.M.-related programs (such as lego clubs, science olympiad, etc.).
Remember to create posters to put up in the library and out in other public areas.
Once you have your date picked out, make sure to let Team Cold Logic
know! We would be more than happy to spread the word about your event!
