Team Mission Statement:
We strive to innovate and transform our ideas into a reality by creating a diverse and proactive team out of local youth that- with the direction of those volunteering as mentors- unites as a family.
It is important to the team that we not only provide a place for innovation and learning, but most importantly an environment where students feel comfortable being themselves, exploring their interests and discovering new interests that will propel them into a succesful future.
"To transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated, and where young people dream of becoming science and technology leaders." -Dean Kamen, Founder of FIRST
FIRST's Mission Statement:
"The mission of FIRST is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators, by engaging them in exciting Mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership."
Celebration of S.T.E.A.M. is what Cold Logic is all about! Our team puts an emphasis on making science and technology fun by encorporating games into skill-building activities. The most obvious example of this is our Java Programming Workshop held each summer where students and mentors teach programming and lateral logic by showing guests how to create their own video games!
FIM's Mission Statement:
"To establish a sustainable FIRST Robotics Competition team at every high school in Michigan. To foster early interest in the FIRST Robotics Competition through Junior FIRST LEGO League in the early elementary schools, FIRST LEGO League in late elementary to early middle schools, and FIRST Tech Challenge in late middle schools."
In order to push FIRST in Michigan's mission, most notably, Team Cold Logic supplies high school students as mentors to local Jr. FLL, FLL, and FTC teams. This not only helps to keep the teams connected but provides the high school students with opportunities to develop leadership skills. The team also holds workshops throughout the summer that are open to the public and targeted toward middle school and late elementary students.
Team Cold Logic also hopes to start and assist a rookie FRC team each year. Watching our rookie teams excell is one of the most exciting parts of the competition and giving them a head start makes the competition that much more fierce. We also participate and hold Mentor Workshops/Camps that help prepare and sustain teams for the upcoming build season.
